   Wipro Lighting In the Spotlight
Wipro holds 'Light Show 2004' in city

Business Bureau : WIPRO Lighting, a part of the Rs 4.000-crore Wipro Group, unveiled three new types of lighting in the city at its 'Light Show '2004' expo-cum-demo held at Hotel Tulip International on Monday. More than a hundred of Nagpur' s architects, interior decorators and the like attended the event. The three' new products are advanced 'value-far-money industrial lighting, well-designed, streetlights billed as 'Architecture Street Furniture' and the next step in Wipro's landscape lighting called the 'Fantasy Heritage' range which makes liberal use of shades from Victorian era.

"All are already available in the market excepting for the Heritage range which should arrive here within a month," informed the company’s, Marketing Manager (Commercial and Industrial) Anuj Dhir while talking to The Hitavada. The show started off with short presentation by Senior Manager (Lighting Solutions) Shailesh Tokekar who acquainted those present with the emerging trends in lighting and the innovations WlPro Lighting was coming up with to meet modern demands. "Our Light Control, Systems cut energy by nearly 70 per cent," he pointed out while touching on various subjects like Wipro's 'Brightness Management Philosophy" and the type of lighting available for different sectors., including hospitals designer petrol pumps landscaping manufacturing and pharma (for 'clean-room' environment) "We have a major chunk of the' market in several sectors like pharma' where we enjoy an' 80 per cent market share. Modern workplaces and lighting controls where we have 60 per cent and we are also t he leaders in landscaping illumination." said Dhir. The latest lamps and optical devices were also put up on display. These included the' Midi High-bay lamp (costing Rs 3.000) and the Regular Well glass fixture (Rs 2.000) for manufacturing plants, light control systems including the infra-red sensor (Rs 6,000) and the Wipro 'SceneSelect' programmable Switchboard (costing from Rs 60.000 onwards depending upon the load to be handled) and others. “You have to remember that these light control systems have been proven savers of energy - upto 70 per cent," reiterated Dhir.

Visitors could also check out the Fantasy range of bollards, wall lights and 'drive-overs' which can be set in roads. The company will take the light show next to Aurangabad and throughout the country thereafter. The only lighting: systems Wipro is not into at present is those using fiber optics arid the non-flammable variety for use in petrochemical plants as these are quite expensive and constitute only 5 per cent of the market. The company aims to enter this field commercially when more affordable and efficient technologies emerge in these two segments.

A question-answer session was also held for the benefit of the participants where the latest technology used by Wipro Lighting and the manner in which the company offers its consultations for lighting solutions was explained.
