What is linear lighting? What are its benefits?

The lighting technologies have undergone a lot of significant changes with time in terms of performance, designs, and features. It all started with the invention of the incandescent bulb and has now come a long way in the 21st century with the introduction of the most efficient lighting technology known as light emitting diodes, or LEDs.

Today, the market is flooded with various types of LED lighting fixtures and smart lighting solutions that make a commercial space highly efficient and functional.  One such LED lighting solution is linear lighting.

What is linear lighting?

Linear lighting typically refers to linear shaped LED luminaires that distribute light over a more narrow area than other round shaped or square lights. They are long and are easily available as suspended lights, surface-mounted luminaires, or recessed lights in the market. For instance, one of the top LED lighting manufacturers in the country, we at Wipro Lighting provide a host of linear lighting options in various designs. Lineos LED is our linear recessed luminaire while Stylus, Axeon and Inspiro are some of the linear lighting options available in the suspended luminaire category.

Benefits of Linear Lighting

Linear lighting, like all LED lights, uses semiconductors to convert electricity into illumination. This makes them highly akin to computer chips rather than lights. They are way more technologically advanced than traditional lighting solutions and are loaded with multiple benefits.

Flexible and Highly Aesthetic

As mentioned earlier, linear lights are available as surface mounted, suspended, or recessed luminaires. This makes them highly suitable for almost all types of ceilings in commercial spaces. Moreover, many linear lights also consist of connecting shapes (T or L) at the corners that allow the interior designer to combine multiple luminaires and create state-of-the-art designs in indoor environments. For instance, you can decide on suspended linear lighting in modern workspaces or commercial areas with high ceilings.

High Performance and Versatile

Linear lighting is powered by the most efficient lighting technology in the world, the light emitting diodes. LEDs are directional and reduce the dependency on reflectors and diffusers for keeping efficacy intact. They are extremely versatile and aid in the development of unique and eye-catchy designs.

Color Temperatures

Apart from various designs, linear lights are available in various colour temperatures as well. They can be combined with smart lighting solutions that offer the user the flexibility of changing the warmness or coolness of the light as per the mood or requirements of the space.

Linear lights have become increasingly popular over a period of time due to their great flexibility, top-notch performance, and highly aesthetic appeal. Loaded with benefits, it has emerged as the first-choice commercial lighting solution in a host of application areas including modern workspaces, healthcare facilities, and educational facilities.
